Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Palermo in the 5th minute of the match. In the 10th minute Chile were awarded a corner. Mariano Lacasa went to the cornerflag to take it. Mariano Lacasa made a great header on Chile's corner, it was just that La Candela FC's Ruben Sánchez managed to reach the ball for a save. Cristian Medina hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Chile's zone, Rubén-Darío Feldmann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thiago Pliego came out of the goal and Rubén-Darío Feldmann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 20 minutes, Martin Palermo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the La Candela FC and the Chile players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 20th minute, Martin Palermo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mariano Lacasa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Palermo in the 27th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Palermo in the 30th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute Martin Palermo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Palermo in the 35th minute of play. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Palermo, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Ruben Sánchez made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Orlando Casaus sent off a good shot on target. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Palermo in the 42nd minute of play. In the 44th minute, Francisco Carballar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 45th minute, Martin Palermo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mariano Lacasa made a kick off. In the 62nd minute, Guillermo Fontirroig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rubén-Darío Feldmann recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Palermo in the 69th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 73rd minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruben Sánchez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ruben Sánchez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orlando Casaus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ruben Sánchez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 84th minute of play. 87 minutes into the game, Martin Palermo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Thiago Pliego. Martin Palermo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. Ruben Sánchez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The La Candela FC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Chile from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
