Rangers FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tim Charles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fergus Fairbairn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduardo Fontirroig, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. After some careless play in the Bolivia defense, Danny Gilespie kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Camilo Freixa. The Bolivia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Camilo Freixa should have stopped the shot. After having played for 27 minutes, Angus Howison managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rangers FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Angus Howison was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Angus Howison received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Camilo Freixa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Fontirroig in the 35th minute of play forced Rangers FC's goalkeeper Fergus Fairbairn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th match minute, Bolivia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Julio Chicote to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angus Howison in the 39th minute of play forced Bolivia's goalkeeper Camilo Freixa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 41 minutes into the game, Ronan McLaws was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rangers FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bolivia the free kick. A collision led to Rangers FC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Danny Gilespie to make the kick off. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfonso de la Cruz couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Rangers FC's zone, Julio Chicote stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fergus Fairbairn came out of the goal and Julio Chicote tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Danny Gilespie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 82nd minute of the match, Mario Fernandino got a very nice opportunity to score, but Fergus Fairbairn was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 83 minutes into the game, Darius Bontine was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rangers FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bolivia the free kick. In the 84th minute of the match Mario Fernandino sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fergus Fairbairn skillfully saved the ball.
