After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Agustín Saelices fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Iraido Bertiz quite easily take care of the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Iruinea Llordes. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Iraido Bertiz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Iraido Bertiz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 29th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iraido Bertiz having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot.
