The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Josué Madureira during the 3rd minute. Matungo Gaúcho were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after Peru's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gilmar Borges took the corner. In the 44th minute Celedonio Florinio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Matungo Gaúcho's Josué Madureira got a free kick in the 45th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Julian Murillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ademir Baptista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Milagros Fraga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Ademir Baptista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Josué Pinheiro was the one to do the kick off. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcinho Sena in the 55th minute of the match. Frank Cromefeldt kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Ademir Baptista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luz Tejedor, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Ademir Baptista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luz Tejedor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Matungo Gaúcho's Ademir Baptista proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Matungo Gaúcho from getting a goal against them. Henk van Putten made in the 87th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Josué Madureira however managed to control. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcinho Sena in the 90th minute of play. Rafael Gallo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ademir Baptista read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. 94 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Celedonio Florinio came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
