The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Salvador Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aníbal Motta's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Vítor Abraão managed to get in a good position for a shot. FURIA FIEL's supporters rose to their feet, but Vítor Abraão was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 21 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Knut Henriksson. With an all-out effort, FURIA FIEL's Jonathan Ferrant threw himself towards the right post 43 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Napoleon Dzierwa, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Deivid Paulista blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. The supporters of FURIA FIEL booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

A sloppy throw-in by Leonel Simão in the 53rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert. A collision led to FURIA FIEL getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Wieslaw Klucznik hit a great ball. 61 minutes into the match, Knut Henriksson notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. FURIA FIEL's Philip Boffin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save FURIA FIEL from getting a goal against them. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Napoleon Dzierwa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Napoleon Dzierwa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 78 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Knut Henriksson came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 79th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. Aníbal Motta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Philip Boffin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patricio Costa in the 95th minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The FURIA FIEL fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
