Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ciriaco George in the 33rd minute of play. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ciriaco George's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. When Maximiliano Escribano came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Uruguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maximiliano Escribano couldn't finish the play. Camilo Franco hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. In the 43rd minute of the match, Maximiliano Escribano tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Baltazar Luz saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Renascença's Joaquin Gayoso threw himself towards the right post 52 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rufino Rengifo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Baltazar Luz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rufino Rengifo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Maximiliano Escribano came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Uruguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maximiliano Escribano couldn't finish the play. In the 88th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kevin Carballal to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Joaquin Gayoso managed to avoid a goal in the 93rdth minute, when A.C. Renascença's Samuel Cosme fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Uruguay lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
