Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Turabi Paksan in the 18th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Cláudio Donatello notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. José Maria Branco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 28th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. José Maria Branco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bem Bolado's José Maria Branco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 34th minute of play. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. José Maria Branco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Maria Branco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 38th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 41st minute of play forced Bem Bolado's goalkeeper José Maria Branco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Maria Branco was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Leopoldo Mandrak charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leopoldo Mandrak the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 57th match minute, Bem Bolado was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leopoldo Mandrak to maneuver through the defense. When Agustín Saelices came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agustín Saelices couldn't finish the play. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Maria Branco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Bem Bolado's José Maria Branco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Bem Bolado from getting a goal against them. 76 minutes into the match, Bem Bolado's goalkeeper José Maria Branco had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agustín Saelices. Magno das Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Luis Andino got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Marcelinho do Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 93 minutes into the game, Primitivo Andino was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bem Bolado the free kick. In the 93rd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. If Marcelinho do Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bem Bolado's Marcelinho do Valle got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
