Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Markos Santamouris in the 5th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Markos Santamouris sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Markos Santamouris could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Argonautes Irakliou's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Paraskevas Eleftheriadis in the 18th minute. When Felix Montes came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Montes couldn't finish the play. After having played for 22 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 25th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Argonautes Irakliou's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Miltos Kastanis quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Miltos Kastanis saved Argonautes Irakliou from getting behind. Miltos Kastanis came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Felix Montenegro. But to his dismay, Felix Montenegro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Argonautes Irakliou's Miltos Kastanis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 39th minute of play. 40 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Miltos Kastanis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. When Felix Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Montenegro couldn't finish the play. 44 minutes into the match, Argonautes Irakliou's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Miltos Kastanis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Miltos Kastanis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 53rd minute of play. In the 54th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Argonautes Irakliou's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Miltos Kastanis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Christos Vrontakis kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. A collision led to Argonautes Irakliou getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Christos Vrontakis hit a great ball. In the 64th minute Argonautes Irakliou were awarded a corner. Nikos Papafotakis went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Argonautes Irakliou's corner Giannis Komaitis fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. A collision led to Argonautes Irakliou getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Markos Santamouris hit a great ball. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miltos Kastanis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 74th minute of play. 77 minutes had been played when some careless play by Argonautes Irakliou's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Juan Sebastián Puig almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Argonautes Irakliou's Miltos Kastanis did a great save. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Argonautes Irakliou's Miltos Kastanis managed to reach the ball for a save. 80 minutes into the match, Markos Santamouris notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 88 minutes, Camilo Gisbert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the Argonautes Irakliou players grew even worse after the yellow card.
