In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Camarón Bombay's goalkeeper Gianluca Buffon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A nice corner shot did that Tomas Illescas got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gianluca Buffon quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Jonathan Ferrant was a little too slow when Dieguito Van Der Kuijlen got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 11th minute. The score was now 1-0. 14 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gianluca Buffon. Camarón Bombay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Illescas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. A collision led to Camarón Bombay getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Constantino Confesor hit a great ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of Venezuela:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Camarón Bombay:s goal. Jonathan Ferrant had in the 26thth minute some difficulties stopping Dieguito Van Der Kuijlen's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Joshua Secada managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Joshua Secada was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gianluca Buffon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Gianluca Buffon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Christian Gonsalvo fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Camarón Bombay's protests and gave Christian Gonsalvo a yellow card for diving instead. Christian Gonsalvo kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Camarón Bombay were awarded a corner in the 45th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mariano Enaut took the corner. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
