In the 4th match minute, Nacional was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felipe Carballo to maneuver through the defense. 5 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Juaneizu Merida. Nacional's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mariano Lacasa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 17th minute, Mariano Lacasa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Juaneizu Merida was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Juaneizu Merida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Casaus, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 24th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juaneizu Merida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Grabiel Escorcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grabiel Escorcia in the 25th minute of play. After some careless play in the Nacional defense, Mariano Lacasa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Juaneizu Merida. The Nacional fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juaneizu Merida should have stopped the shot. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Chile's zone, Grabiel Escorcia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thiago Pliego came out of the goal and Grabiel Escorcia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nacional's Juaneizu Merida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 37th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 37th minute of play forced Nacional's goalkeeper Juaneizu Merida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Chile's Thiago Pliego proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Chile from getting a goal against them. Joseph Gayoso hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Mariano Lacasa made the kick off in the second half. Grabiel Escorcia blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Thiago Pliego having to make a save. Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Juaneizu Merida having to make a save. In the 72ndth minute of the game Grabiel Escorcia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chile's Thiago Pliego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 80th minute of the match Nacional got a corner. Chile's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Xu Sha ran over to the corner to take the kick. Nacional's Grabiel Escorcia was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Thiago Pliego in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Francisco Carballar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Juaneizu Merida made a huge save. Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Juaneizu Merida having to make a save. Francisco Carballar charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Francisco Carballar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 95th match minute, Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Carballar to maneuver through the defense. The Nacional fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Chile were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
