In the 15th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zbigniew Laba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Szymon Labus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Szymon Labus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, White Star Troopers's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Zbigniew Laba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 28 minutes of play, White Star Troopers's Wilfredo León made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Proca in the 32nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. When Daniel Zorita fell near the penalty area in the 50th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Daniel Zorita a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a free kick in the 50th minute. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Wilfredo León kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Zbigniew Laba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 68th minute of the match. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. White Star Troopers were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
