Ole Per Köppen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector Covarrubias in the 5th minute of play. Filiberto Jakobe kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. After 8 minutes, Matthias Reiter mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KFC Hansa and the Paraguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. After having played for 69 minutes, Hector Covarrubias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paraguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hector Covarrubias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 70 minutes, Loy Schwerinski mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KFC Hansa and the Paraguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Paraguay booed when KFC Hansa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Loy Schwerinski didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Paraguay's zone, Matthias Reiter stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal and Matthias Reiter tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Raul Venegas during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
