Seagulls's Jurjen van der Gun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 11th minute of play. Jurjen van der Gun didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Isidoro Sarmiento went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Jurjen van der Gun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isidoro Sarmiento, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Seagulls's Jurjen van der Gun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abraham Alguacil in the 29th minute of play. The Seagulls fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jurjen van der Gun should have stopped the shot. After the first half Panama were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The supporters of Seagulls booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomas Berganza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jurjen van der Gun made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Isidoro Sarmiento sent off a good shot on target. Abraham Alguacil scored 0-6 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jurjen van der Gun, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Abraham Alguacil kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Jurjen van der Gun made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alex Cambeiro in the 89th minute. Isidoro Sarmiento could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Jurjen van der Gun made a huge save. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roger Popken, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Panama played a much better game than Seagulls and deserved their victory. The Seagulls players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
