Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Perico Caminero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andrés-Fernando Gonzalvez to make the kick off. Eliseo Noboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudio Aznar having to interfere. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrés-Fernando Gonzalvez in the 86th minute of play. In the 87th minute, Eliseo Noboa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Perico Caminero managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Deportivo O IRIXO's supporters rose to their feet, but Perico Caminero was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Club Deportivo O IRIXO fully deserved thier win.
