The referee showed Celsinho Britto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Internazionale-RS's Celsinho Britto got a free kick in the 8th minute. Filipe Travassos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Filipe Travassos saved Internazionale-RS from getting behind. Internazionale-RS's Filipe Travassos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 20th minute of play. Filipe Travassos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. After 23 minutes Internazionale-RS's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomas Illescas who took care of the corner kick. Camilo Gaos made a great header on Venezuela's corner, it was just that Internazionale-RS's Filipe Travassos managed to reach the ball for a save. 25 minutes into the match, Internazionale-RS's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Costa came free, but Filipe Travassos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 28 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Filipe Travassos. Internazionale-RS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Illescas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After some careless play in the Internazionale-RS defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Filipe Travassos. The Internazionale-RS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Filipe Travassos should have stopped the shot. Filipe Travassos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tomas Illescas had several of the Internazionale-RS's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 92 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-4 score and a disappointed Filipe Travassos as he didn't even see the shot coming. Venezuela's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
