The audience thought a goal was coming when Spiros Bekyros got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patricio Costa scored 1-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ruslan Grytsenko, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 34th minute, Corrado Coletti got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 36th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruslan Grytsenko saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ruslan Grytsenko prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rostyslav Tarakhtiy kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Ruslan Grytsenko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 41st minute of play. In the 42nd minute, one of FC MINAY:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for FC MINAY. In the 45th minute there was a penalty for Venezuela. Tomas Illescas stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ruslan Grytsenko. 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Spiros Bekyros in the 51st minute of the match. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Spiros Bekyros, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. 60 minutes into the game, Bernard Kišš cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Corrado Coletti in the 62nd minute of play. After 70 minutes Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Corrado Coletti who took care of the corner kick. 72 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Bernard Kišš came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Spiros Bekyros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Spiros Bekyros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Spiros Bekyros's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. After having played for 89 minutes, Spiros Bekyros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC MINAY's supporters crossed their fingers, but Spiros Bekyros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 93rd minute, Rostyslav Tarakhtiy had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Patricio Costa during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. FC MINAY's Sergiy Stezhkovyi was substituted for Rostyslav Tarakhtiy. After 94 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Patricio Costa. Despite being the better team, FC MINAY failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
