The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 9th minute of the match Palestra do Interior got a corner. Canada's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hudson Sergipano ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Palestra do Interior's corner Hudson Sergipano fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jax Williamson quite easily take care of the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Rohan Watson came free, but Allan Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
