Lautaro Navarro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. The audience was convinced that Edmundo Espiga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fausto Weterio was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Feliberto Lawrence made in the 39th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Igor Gilabert. After having played for 42 minutes, Sebastian Villa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Honduras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastian Villa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ernesto Soin was the one to do the kick off. In the 57th minute, Evaristo Matteo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Honduras's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Edmundo Espiga in the 59th minute. The corner ended in Edmundo Espiga almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Estudiantes de la Plata's Fausto Weterio did a great save. 61 minutes into the match, Honduras's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio came free, but Lautaro Navarro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 67 minutes into the game, Urko Echavarri was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Estudiantes de la Plata's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Honduras the free kick. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de la Plata's Urko Echavarri got a free kick in the 67th minute. Fausto Weterio acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 68th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Edmundo Espiga. 73 minutes into the game, Evaristo Matteo threw the ball into play from the sideline. In the 79th minute of the match, Edmundo Espiga sent away a good long shot that could have become a goal, but Fausto Weterio showed an example of his skillful tending and made the save just under the crossbar. Estudiantes de la Plata's Urko Echavarri got his second yellow card of the match in the 81st minute. The referee ordered Urko Echavarri off the ground. It was a brilliant solo performance by Honduras's Edmundo Espiga when he shot the ball into the net to 2-1 in the 86th minute. After some careless play in the Honduras defense, Ernesto Soin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lautaro Navarro. The Honduras fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lautaro Navarro should have stopped the shot. Edmundo Espiga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Fausto Weterio made a huge save. 94 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de la Plata's Igor Gilabert sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lautaro Navarro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Estudiantes de la Plata were victorious despite being under pressure from Honduras for much of the match.
