Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. If Ulf Nordlander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. DIF LEEDS BK's Brazilio Butt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Costa in the 24th minute of play. 27 minutes into the game, Jose Correa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave DIF LEEDS BK the free kick. After 28 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. In the 33rd minute, DIF LEEDS BK's Ulf Nordlander ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-0. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Pál Kormos tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ulf Nordlander struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for DIF LEEDS BK.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. A collision led to DIF LEEDS BK getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Dan Verhoeven hit a great ball. Camilo Gaos's late challenge caught a DIF LEEDS BK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Gaos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 56th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. The audience held their breath when Eduardo Selmo in the 58th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Jonathan Ferrant's left hand side. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ulf Nordlander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pál Kormos in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. With his leg Brazilio Butt managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Venezuela's Tomas Illescas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jerry Jonasson struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for DIF LEEDS BK. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Eduardo Selmo managed to get in a good position for a shot. DIF LEEDS BK's supporters rose to their feet, but Eduardo Selmo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Ulf Nordlander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brazilio Butt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 91 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Pál Kormos came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 93 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
