Tamboril's Erivaldo Furlan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 10th minute of play. Cacá Matorin hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Erivaldo Furlan came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 17th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erivaldo Furlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Tamboril's Narciso Pernambucano got a free kick in the 44th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emil Zaremba stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Erivaldo Furlan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 56th minute of the match. When Agustín Saelices came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agustín Saelices couldn't finish the play. Agustín Saelices in the 65thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Erivaldo Furlan, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 69th minute, Cacá Matorin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tamboril fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Tamboril made a substitution. Vânderson Peixoto replaced Rubens Torres. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Erivaldo Furlan in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 93rd minute, which Erivaldo Furlan however easily saved by the left post. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emil Zaremba in the 95th minute of play. The Tamboril fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
