Frank Tepedino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Frank Tepedino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Dimitris Saravakos took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Julio Vera to make any attempt to save it. In the 22nd minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dimitris Saravakos in the 26th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to GRÊMIO getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Bryant Tout hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frank Tepedino read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Bernabe Flores's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bernabe Flores helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 37th minute, GRÊMIO's Ronaldo Fenomeno ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Julio Vera. Julio Vera yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when 魏宽银 tried to sneak it across the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After 61 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. In the 62nd minute, 魏宽银 got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 63rd minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-3. 68 minutes in the game, Luis Andino fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Frank Tepedino having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Dimitris Saravakos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GRÊMIO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Frank Tepedino didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Camilo Gisbert got a throw-in 92 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Luis Andino. Frank Tepedino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 94th minute of play. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing GRÊMIO to leave the ground with a draw.
