C.A.Independiente's Buford Lim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 13th minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Bernardino Gonsalve kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. 30 minutes into the match, C.A.Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Buford Lim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 30 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Daniel Zorita sped through C.A.Independiente's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Buford Lim. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 39th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 42nd minute. After having played for 43 minutes, Gavril Bosioc managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.A.Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gavril Bosioc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Buford Lim having to interfere. Baldomiro Silvino kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Heigo Luiga in the 52nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Tom Misaki's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Tom Misaki might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
