After 10 minutes GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s Elder de Toledo managed to reach the ball for a save. 16 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Elder de Toledo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Elder de Toledo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Elder de Toledo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 21st minute of play. After a rather tough play, GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s Ninoslav Stipanić got a free kick in the 25th minute. After 26 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Elder de Toledo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. In the 26th minute, Felix Montenegro had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. Mile Šljivar's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mile Šljivar helped the player get up and apologised. Ecuador made a substitution. Diego Mancebo replaced Felix Montenegro. Mile Šljivar hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elder de Toledo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 31 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ made a substitution. Arijan Zlatarević replaced Ninoslav Stipanić. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zachary Parzysz made a kick off. In the 53rd minute of the match Ibrica Madunić sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elder de Toledo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Camilo Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zachary Parzysz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 88 minutes into the game, Juan Sebastián Puig was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ the free kick. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elder de Toledo having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 98 minutes, Zachary Parzysz put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than GNK Dinamo Zagreb™.
