After 16 played minutes, Cosa nostra Lyon's Félicien Boidin shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Julio Vera came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cosa nostra Lyon reached it. Erwann Patrice came free with the goalkeeper in the 17th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. After having played for 47 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

With an all-out effort, Ecuador's Clem Fath threw himself towards the right post 51 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cristian Sancho, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Willy Hautefeuille fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 59th minute, which Clem Fath however easily saved by the left post. When Cosa nostra Lyon's Erwann Patrice in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Cosa nostra Lyon's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick.
