When Norberto Jacinto in the 27th minute tried to hit away a contribution it happened that he shot the ball via the crossbar into his own goal. A completely unnecessary self made goal, 0-3. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 30th minute. Norberto Jacinto tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Gildo Furtado. An unnecessary self made goal, 0-4 in the 30th minute. The supporters of America FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 41 minutes, Jonas Dracena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. America FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonas Dracena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Agustín Saelices hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Maicon Arruda was the one to do the kick off. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arí Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonas Dracena in the 56th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Yuri Lopez put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. America FC's Maicon Arruda got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Ecuador players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
