Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. It was a well-played corner which Luis Andino managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Roberto Estevon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 17th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Matthew Macken made a kick off. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ed Helks, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. In the 55th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roberto Estevon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 57 minutes, Will Starr mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ashley Down Athletic and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ruben Higginson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Ashley Down Athletic made a substitution.
