Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Everett Gerber in the 5th minute of play. After having played for 7 minutes, Casimiro Quinchen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melandru de Cenero's supporters crossed their fingers, but Casimiro Quinchen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 8th minute of play forced Melandru de Cenero's goalkeeper Andrea Perez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andrea Perez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. 13 minutes into the game, Melandru de Cenero's Xurdin Pena nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dante Lacasa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Andrea Perez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 16th minute of play. Mexico's Joel Gaona was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Andrea Perez in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 25th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Melandru de Cenero's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. Alberto Tafalla made a great header on Mexico's corner, it was just that Melandru de Cenero's Andrea Perez managed to reach the ball for a save. The supporters of Melandru de Cenero booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Facundo Cadaval didn't get a good kick on the ball. Xurdin Pena's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. Melandru de Cenero were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after Mexico's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Leonards Štucers took the corner. Calisto Durango was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Felix Luque during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Felix Luque hit a great ball. In the 45th minute, Lautaro Mancebo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Xurdin Pena made a kick off. Melandru de Cenero's Andrea Perez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Melandru de Cenero from getting a goal against them. Andrea Perez made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice moves Lautaro Mancebo could shoot a difficult shot in the 59th minute, which Andrea Perez however easily saved by the left post. Everett Gerber took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. With a little luck, Melandru de Cenero's Andrea Perez got control of the ball when Alberto Tafalla tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Everett Gerber in the 65th minute of the match. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Everett Gerber in the 76th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Fabio Cienfuegos notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Mexico's Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Andrea Perez came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Joel Gaona. But to his dismay, Joel Gaona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Joel Gaona's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andrea Perez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. In the 93rd match minute, Melandru de Cenero was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Norbert Dömötör to maneuver through the defense. Mexico's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
