Salamanca UDS's Saip Baltaş played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 11th minute of play. David Holmstedt struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Salamanca UDS. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Holmstedt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When David Holmstedt came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Salamanca UDS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that David Holmstedt couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kamel Espitalier in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Carvalho in the 35th minute of play. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joaquim Carvalho's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. If Joaquim Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joaquim Carvalho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Agustín Saelices's late challenge caught a Salamanca UDS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
