Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edmundo Espiga to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pascual Bertin in the 51st minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Olavo da Mata in the 79th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Honduras's Esteban Carvallo. In the 80th minute of the match Esteban Carvallo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Júlio Varela showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Luca Espinar kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Eliézer Negri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lautaro Navarro having to interfere. A well placed Edmundo Espiga short distance shot in the 85th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. When Pascual Bertin came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Chaves do 8 FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pascual Bertin couldn't finish the play. In the 94thth minute of the game Fabricio Quiroga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Honduras's Lautaro Navarro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 96th minute Edmundo Espiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Varela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Honduras's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
