Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ben-Ami Gol in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 21 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jairo Eneko who took care of the corner kick. Adelino Corrêa might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Barreal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jairo Eneko didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dário Tepedino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. It was a well-played corner which Cristian Sancho managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
