The attack was good, but when Daniel Zorita in the 13th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Örjan Forssell's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 33rd minute of play forced Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's goalkeeper Petru Nisporeanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Petru Nisporeanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 47th minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Deportivo Peñarol FIFV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Llope Ojeda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paolo Montero in the 60th minute of play. Petru Nisporeanu made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. 67 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Petru Nisporeanu. Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Petru Nisporeanu in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Petru Nisporeanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Örjan Forssell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
