The referee ignored Fragleses's protests and gave Haralampi Smrikarov a yellow card for diving instead. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zlatko Ibrahimović in the 14th minute of play. Zlatko Ibrahimović fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Fragleses's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kim Hänninen came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kim Hänninen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 30th minute of play. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Zlatko Ibrahimović kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Fragleses's attentive Wiktor Gomolka managed to snatch the ball when Camilo Gisbert made a throw-in in the 38th minute of the game. Zlatko Ibrahimović blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zlatko Ibrahimović in the 41st minute of play. Zlatko Ibrahimović could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball.

After 53 minutes of play, Fragleses's Zlatko Ibrahimović made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Wiktor Gomolka hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Kim Hänninen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 58th minute of the match. In the 62nd minute of the game Luis Andino made a throw-in which Cristian Sancho played forward. Zlatko Ibrahimović blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zlatko Ibrahimović in the 68th minute of the match. 69 minutes into the match, Fragleses's goalkeeper Kim Hänninen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. In the 70th minute, Zlatko Ibrahimović left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fragleses fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Fragleses's Waldemar Wojtowicz was substituted for Olaf Wojtowicz. Fragleses's Kim Hänninen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 76th minute of play. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Grzegorz Rasiak kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. After having played for 89 minutes, Grzegorz Rasiak managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fragleses's supporters crossed their fingers, but Grzegorz Rasiak was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Grzegorz Rasiak's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. 94 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Kim Hänninen. Cristian Sancho showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-1. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Fragleses had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
