Roland Nordin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Bertil Löfgren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert got a free kick in the 15th minute. In the 20th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guillermo Mariano to maneuver through the defense. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Roland Nordin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. When Karl-Axel Pihlwall fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stockholm FC's protests and gave Karl-Axel Pihlwall a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Stockholm FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karl-Axel Pihlwall didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off. Hjörleifur Hilmarsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Venezuela's Tomas Illescas slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Roland Nordin. That made the score 2-2 after 88 minutes of play. Roland Nordin came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Venezuela's Patricio Costa. But to his dismay, Patricio Costa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Roland Nordin in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
