Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Joel Gaona started the match with the kick off. Valter Wallgren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luca Zorita in the 3rd minute of play. Lautaro Mancebo hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. When André Törnqvist fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Woopbongo's protests and gave André Törnqvist a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Mexico booed when Woopbongo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. André Törnqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 21st minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valter Wallgren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Woopbongo's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Valter Wallgren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Mexico were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 53rd minute, Alberto Tafalla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luca Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Valter Wallgren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valter Wallgren made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 60th minute. André Törnqvist hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Alberto Tafalla was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 75th minute. Mexico's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Woopbongo fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Mexico were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
