With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg András Tóth saved StarwarsNoAbandona9-12-18 from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arturo Christobal in the 26th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 32 minutes, Salvador Gil mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the StarwarsNoAbandona9-12-18 and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. András Tóth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luckas Baert to make the kick off. Cristian Sanchos short, quick shot in the 56thth minute got András Tóth to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Luis Andino was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
