Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sylvan Van der Willeghem in the 28th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, RWDM's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Tony Vandenberge reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lennert Van der Vloedt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 35th minute, Joel Gaona ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tony Vandenberge was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Tony Vandenberge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 40th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joel Gaona to strike the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Mexico's Alberto Tafalla slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tony Vandenberge. That made the score 0-2 after 51 minutes of play. Tony Vandenberge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 54th minute of play. RWDM's Tony Vandenberge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 57th minute of play. Tony Vandenberge showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Anthony Coenens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sylvan Van der Willeghem in the 65th minute of the match. 65 minutes in the game, Sylvan Van der Willeghem dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. In the 66th match minute, RWDM was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lennert Van der Vloedt to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot 67 in the game by Lautaro Mancebo from a close distance when the talented Tony Vandenberge managed to make a qualified save. RWDM's players were relieved. 71 minutes into the match, Lautaro Mancebo notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of RWDM's Tony Vandenberge. Tony Vandenberge was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The crowd rose to their feet as Alberto Tafalla kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tony Vandenberge. That made the score 0-5 in the 76 minute of play. Tony Vandenberge was out of position in the 80 minute of play, and Joel Gaona capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Joel Gaona really showed his touch with that goal: 0-6. Tony Vandenberge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luca Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lennert Van der Vloedt scored 1-6 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dante Lacasa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Mexico booed when RWDM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mikael Valström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mexico's Joel Gaona couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for RWDM. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sylvan Van der Willeghem in the 93rd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tony Vandenberge. Tony Vandenberge yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-7. The RWDM supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Mexico's performance. The match ended with a win for Mexico.
