Thiago Pliego breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 46 minutes into the game, Mariano Lacasa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Edwin van der Sar was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Thiago Pliego came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by ♠♥ Stardust Crusaders ♣♦'s Pero Falla. But to his dismay, Pero Falla quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. After 71 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for ♠♥ Stardust Crusaders ♣♦! The supporters of ♠♥ Stardust Crusaders ♣♦ booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Carballar didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Chile's zone, Pero Falla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thiago Pliego came out of the goal and Pero Falla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 88 minutes into the match, ♠♥ Stardust Crusaders ♣♦'s goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Edwin van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Edwin van der Sar made a huge save. Mariano Lacasa might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edwin van der Sar. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mariano Lacasa ran back to his position shaking his head. Edwin van der Sar made a fantastic save in the 99th minute, when Orlando Casaus sent off a good shot on target. Chile's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
