Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) An unexpectedly hard shot by Jens Krammer in the 10th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Klaus-Marco Kühbauer showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 13 minute of play. Eliseo Noboa struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Steven Schuster didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Walter Schulze-Oben tried to sneak it across the goal line. FC Żywiec's Wolf Demmel suffered a sore thigh after 30 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Axel Tasis's late challenge caught a FC Żywiec's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Axel Tasis helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Axel Tasis got a free kick in the 30th minute. Walter Schulze-Oben received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th minute, FC Żywiec's Hans-Dieter Kolb ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Axel Tasis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Axel Tasis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Steven Schuster breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Roland Hens took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. 47 minutes into the match, FC Żywiec's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Steven Schuster reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Axel Tasis to make the kick off. In the 50th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan Moruga to maneuver through the defense. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walter Schulze-Oben in the 53rd minute of play. In the 58th minute, Lautaro Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alan Moruga hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Costa Rica were furious when Hugo Ferrant was red carded, 62 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 61st minute of the game. One of Costa Rica:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Żywiec:s goal. Costa Rica:s Benito Sanz showed great skill when he stopped Roland Hens:s penalty. Walter Schulze-Oben received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 80th minute Walter Schulze-Oben shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. FC Żywiec had played much better football throughout.
