With an extended leg and a bit of luck Paredes Goiano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 13th minute, Antonio Arias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 13th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Malte Göransson. 15 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Manchester City's Paredes Goiano. Paredes Goiano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Richard Edström's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. After having played for 23 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paredes Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 31st minute, Richard Edström got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Manchester City's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Paredes Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Richard Edström was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 57thth minute of the game Richard Edström who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 60th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Paredes Goiano could save by the left post. Luis Andino struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Paredes Goiano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. A collision led to Manchester City getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Casper Biörk hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester City's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paredes Goiano came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Manchester City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Casper Biörk didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 80th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulf Tingelholm in the 81st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manchester City's Paredes Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 84th minute of play. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute of the match Malte Göransson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 95 minutes into the game, Alexander Söderström was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Manchester City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After a rather tough play, Manchester City's Alexander Söderström got a free kick in the 95th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
