An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 3rd minute of play forced American Airlines's goalkeeper Arvin Hökkvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 4th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Arvin Hökkvist in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Arvin Hökkvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 6th minute of the match. 10 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Bennvar Nobel came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 11 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Darnell Metcalf was slow to take the kick. During this time American Airlines's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Darnell Metcalf got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 13 minutes into the match, American Airlines's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Arvin Hökkvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 17th minute of play forced American Airlines's goalkeeper Arvin Hökkvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arvin Hökkvist made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 28th minute of play forced American Airlines's goalkeeper Arvin Hökkvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the game, Bennvar Nobel recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Julio Vera. Bennvar Nobel showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adrian Trevino in the 35th minute. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 40th minute. American Airlines's Darnell Metcalf shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 41st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Julio Vera but with some difficulty. In the 41st minute, Carlo Trujillo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 44 minutes into the match, Luis Andino had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arvin Hökkvist. American Airlines's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luis Andino was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. Arvin Hökkvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 51st minute of the match. Arvin Hökkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 54th minute Edwin 雷震南 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anoush Khalatbari in the 56th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 58th minute, Anoush Khalatbari got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Arvin Hökkvist quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when American Airlines was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrián Pádár didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adrián Pádár hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. The American Airlines fans' excitement grew in the 70th match minute when American Airlines's Anoush Khalatbari looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. American Airlines made a substitution. Jonah Ryan replaced Bennvar Nobel. After 82 played minutes American Airlines got a freekick which was hit by Big Lebowski. The supporters of Ecuador booed when American Airlines was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Big Lebowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Anoush Khalatbari managed to get in a good position for a shot. American Airlines's supporters rose to their feet, but Anoush Khalatbari was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Anoush Khalatbari in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of American Airlines booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball.
