Stanny Van Wontergem didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Moises Tafalla went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Moises Tafalla scored 0-2 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Stanny Van Wontergem, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lautaro Navarro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Van Mechelen in the 32nd minute of play. Miguel Van Mechelen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lautaro Navarro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. Andries Mangelschot hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Stanny Van Wontergem took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmundo Espiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Honduras getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Christian Sancho hit a great ball.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Sebastian Villa got free with Stanny Van Wontergem in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Honduras's Christian Sancho quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. When Adolphe De Maerschalckx fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored YR Mechelen's protests and gave Adolphe De Maerschalckx a yellow card for diving instead. Honduras's supporters stood up full of expectation in the 96th minute of the game, when Christian Sancho after an extraordinary solo performance found himself with a golden opportunity in front of YR Mechelen's goal. Christian Sancho was unfortunally a little to anxious and the ball went outside the goal. When the final whistle sounded Honduras left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than YR Mechelen.
