Malte Göransson ran over to the corner to take the kick. Malte Göransson made a great header on Manchester City's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Paredes Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 13 minutes Manchester City's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Paredes Goiano quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard Edström in the 16th minute of play. Paredes Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 20th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 22nd minute of play forced Manchester City's goalkeeper Paredes Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 24thth minute, when Manchester City's Richard Edström fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. 34 minutes into the match, Manchester City's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Paredes Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Paredes Goiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paredes Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ulf Tingelholm's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Manchester City's goalkeeper Paredes Goiano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paredes Goiano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 80 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Sanchos short, quick shot in the 82ndth minute got Paredes Goiano to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Paredes Goiano was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cristian Sancho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 92 minute of play.
