The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Juan Rubio kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Fabian Czeszejko's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. 14 minutes into the game, Fabian Czeszejko cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Fernando Morientes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 20 minutes, Fabian Czeszejko made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fabian Czeszejko in the 26th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fabian Czeszejko in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fabian Czeszejko's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. In the 32nd minute of the match Olimpia HSB got a corner. Costa Rica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Fernando Morientes ran over to the corner to take the kick. 33 minutes into the match, Fabian Czeszejko had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabian Czeszejko was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Olimpia HSB's Fabian Czeszejko slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Benito Sanz. That made the score 7-0 after 36 minutes of play. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabian Czeszejko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benito Sanz was out of position in the 42 minute of play, and Fabian Czeszejko capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fabian Czeszejko really showed his touch with that goal: 8-0. 45 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Nikola Mirotić came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 61st minute, Ezequiel Abecia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 63 minutes into the match, Olimpia HSB's goalkeeper Tolek Kiszkiel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Puig. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fabian Czeszejko went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 12-0 was the resulting score. 68 minutes into the match, Fabian Czeszejko notched a goal, 13-0, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 71 minutes into the game, Fabian Czeszejko cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 14-0. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Olimpia HSB fully deserved thier win.
