Jurjen van der Gun came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 27th minute of play forced Seagulls's goalkeeper Jurjen van der Gun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Salvador Gisbert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jurjen van der Gun breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 38th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jurjen van der Gun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 44 minutes into the match, Patricio Costa notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Seagulls's Jurjen van der Gun. Jurjen van der Gun was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Roger Popken to strike the kick off in the second half. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joep Haremeijer's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joep Haremeijer helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Seagulls getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Joep Haremeijer hit a great ball. The throw-in from Stef Pragt in the 56th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jurjen van der Gun having to interfere. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Roger Popken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 70th minute there was a penalty for Venezuela. Tomas Illescas stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jurjen van der Gun. 0-2. 73 minutes into the match, Seagulls's goalkeeper Jurjen van der Gun had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomas Illescas. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Rigoberto Mina got a free kick in the 75th minute. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Seagulls's goalkeeper Jurjen van der Gun, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 81st minute, Patricio Costa fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jurjen van der Gun, passed just outside the right post. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 85th minute, Tomas Illescas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jurjen van der Gun was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Stef Pragt made in the 89th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Carsten Klaasens immediately put the ball in play. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jurjen van der Gun having to interfere.
