Thiago Pliego didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fielzão. Thiago Pliego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Augusto Vasconcelos's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. 33 minutes in the game Jose Manzanedo did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Orlando Casaus. Carlos Eduardo Aparecido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 41 minutes into the game, Chile's Mariano Lacasa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlos Eduardo Aparecido made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. With 47 minutes on the clock, Alan Tamayo commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 46th minute of the game. One of Chile:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Fielzão:s goal. Thiago Pliego had in the 48thth minute some difficulties stopping Arvid Treiner's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After the first half Chile were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Orlando Casaus was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice moves Orlando Casaus could shoot a difficult shot in the 52nd minute, which Carlos Eduardo Aparecido however easily saved by the left post. Carlos Augusto Vasconcelos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thiago Pliego having to interfere. Fielzão made a substitution. Ciro de Alcântara replaced Afonsinho Zonta. 58 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Arvid Treiner came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arvid Treiner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 59 minutes into the game, Arvid Treiner cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Thiago Pliego was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 65th minute, Orlando Casaus fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 67thth minute of the game Carlos Augusto Vasconcelos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chile's Thiago Pliego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Chile booed when Fielzão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruninho Furtado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Eduardo Aparecido made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Orlando Casaus sent off a good shot on target. In the 73rd minute, Carlos Augusto Vasconcelos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fielzão's Alfredo Trigo was substituted for Luisão Leal. Orlando Casaus could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Carlos Eduardo Aparecido made a huge save. Chile were awarded a corner in the 80th minute after Fielzão's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mariano Lacasa took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Pedro Indiano got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Carlos Eduardo Aparecido quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Thiago Pliego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Augusto Vasconcelos's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. Luiz Fábio Quadros hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Francisco Carballar kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Chile's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Fielzão had won, even though Chile had held more of the ball.
