When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Peder Alström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carl Kalfhage in the 12thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the match, INIXET BK's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Kent Näver reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when INIXET BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carl Kalfhage didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Peder Alström came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the INIXET BK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Peder Alström couldn't finish the play. INIXET BK's Kent Näver played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 28th minute of play. Peder Alström struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for INIXET BK. 36 minutes into the match, INIXET BK's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Kent Näver reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kent Näver read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. In the 38th minute, Sören Gregersson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of INIXET BK booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carl Kalfhage received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 45 minutes into the game, Felix Montes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave INIXET BK the free kick. After 45 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tom Lövgren got free with Julio Vera in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Peder Alström made a kick off. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peder Alström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Peder Alström in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. With a little luck, INIXET BK's Kent Näver got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. 70 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Sören Gregersson came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Andino to maneuver through the defense. INIXET BK's Carl Kalfhage got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 73rd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. INIXET BK's Tom Lövgren couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 74th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ecuador. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kent Näver breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carl Kalfhage in the 81st minute of the match. 82 minutes into the match, INIXET BK's goalkeeper Kent Näver had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl Kalfhage in the 87th minute of play. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carl Kalfhage's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
