Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Gonzalez, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fernando Ruisko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 78th minute of play. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fernando Ruisko having to make a save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when El Millo de Haedo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maximino Rosio didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than El Millo de Haedo.
