Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Gerardo Beltran took the kick off in the first half of the match. Pedro Pelayo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 8th minute of the match. After 13 minutes, Osvaldo Bernat made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Pedro Pelayo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Agustín Saelices's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Severo Mingo hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when Stellenbosch's Gerardo Beltran fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Julio Vera was out of position in the 26 minute of play, and Osvaldo Bernat capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Osvaldo Bernat really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. In the 33rd minute, Osvaldo Bernat left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Stellenbosch fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. In the 38th minute Osvaldo Bernat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute, Osvaldo Bernat got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pedro Pelayo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Pedro Pelayo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Pedro Pelayo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 55th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Osvaldo Bernat stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Osvaldo Bernat tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 56 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Osvaldo Bernat came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 59th minute Osvaldo Bernat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stellenbosch's Laureano Gora was substituted for Severo Mingo. Stellenbosch's Octavio Lluis was substituted for Osvaldo Bernat. After 67 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 71th minute after Stellenbosch's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Pedro Pelayo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Octavio Lluis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Octavio Lluis in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. In the 89th minute, Fidel Martxelin made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. In the 93rd minute, Octavio Lluis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0.
