Through an outstanding action, after 13 minutes, Edwin van der Sar successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 15th minute, Colombia's Axel Montenegro ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Edwin van der Sar. Edwin van der Sar yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Taisto Pentsinen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Pedro Manzanares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edwin van der Sar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abram Sarmiento, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. When Manchester United FC's Taisto Pentsinen in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 27thth minute of the game Valdemar Kuoppala who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Colombia's Pedro Manzanares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match clock showed 27 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Valdemar Kuoppala sped through Colombia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pedro Manzanares. The supporters of Manchester United FC booed when Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Indiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedro Manzanares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eero Uusipaavalniemi in the 32nd minute of play. When Valdemar Kuoppala came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Manchester United FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valdemar Kuoppala couldn't finish the play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Valdemar Kuoppala was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Manchester United FC getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Eero Uusipaavalniemi hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Taisto Pentsinen in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Manzanares saved Colombia from getting behind. Rio Ferdinand hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Abram Sarmiento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Edwin van der Sar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 57 minutes into the match, Manchester United FC's goal looked a bit too open when Pascual Carballar came free, but Edwin van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Taisto Pentsinen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Taisto Pentsinen in the 62nd minute of play. Davide Beckham made in the 78th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Alfred Laulaja immediately put the ball in play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Manchester United FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
