The audience thought a goal was coming when Marin Jumancă got free with Rolando Noboa in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by Huckebein's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Alonso Berganza almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Huckebein's Apolo Santxol did a great save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marin Jumancă got free with Rolando Noboa in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Apolo Santxol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 35th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 37th minute of play forced Huckebein's goalkeeper Apolo Santxol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 54th minute of the game Emmanuel Reyes made a throw-in which Milagros Fraga played forward. Apolo Santxol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Mina in the 55th minute of play. Huckebein made a substitution. Wolfgang Dalkvist replaced Marin Jumancă. Huckebein's Leonardo Seco was substituted for Eriberto Terra. Peru were awarded a corner in the 58th minute after Huckebein's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. Gwidon Augustyn thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Apolo Santxol, a very annoying self made goal in the 58th minute which led to 0-1. In the 61stth minute of the game Wolfgang Dalkvist who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peru's Rolando Noboa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wolfgang Dalkvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. The Huckebein support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
